Amtrak announced on September 15 that it has reached financial close with Plenary Infrastructure Philadelphia (PIP) on a lease and development agreement for the restoration and renovation of the historic William H. Gray III 30th Street Station. Composed of Plenary Americas, Gilbane Building Company, Johnson Controls, and Vantage Airport Group, the PIP team will refurbish and improve the historic building, finance those improvements, and maintain the station for a 50-year term.

Vantage Airport Group is delighted to be part of PIP as the concessions development and management partner for the revitalized station.

“We are pleased to mark the financial close milestone and to partner with Amtrak and the entire PIP team to create a world-class station experience that reflects and serves Philadelphia’s communities,” said Sammy Patel, Vice President, Commercial, Vantage Airport Group. “We are excited to bring Vantage’s deep commercial expertise, developed over more than 30 years of creating exceptional concessions programs at airports around the world, to another significant U.S. transportation infrastructure project.”

Vantage will be responsible for creating and delivering an expanded and modernized concessions experience, with high quality retail and food & beverage offerings for travelers, employees, and all Philadelphians at Amtrak’s third busiest station in the U.S. When complete, 30th Street Station will feature more than 45,000 square feet of commercial space offering some 20 new food, beverage and retail amenities. Commercial construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2023, with completion in late 2025.
