October 25, 2021; Greater Moncton, New Brunswick: After more than seven years as President
& CEO of Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport (YQM) and Vantage Airport Group executive, Bernard F. LeBlanc will retire from his position, effective May 2022.

A seasoned leader with more than 35 years of business experience across a range of diverse
industries including transportation and logistics, petroleum and electrical distribution, construction and aviation, Bernard joined the YQM team in early 2015. Leveraging his experience and knowledge as prior CEO at Saint John Airport and in other executive roles across North America, Bernard has led the development of YQM as one of Atlantic Canada’s fastest-growing airports and a strategic hub for transatlantic cargo activity over his seven-plus years as CEO.

“Bernard has provided tremendous leadership and strategic direction to the team at YQM over the past seven years, and on behalf of the Board of Directors, we wish him very well in this next
chapter” said Nancy Whipp, Board Chair, Greater Moncton International Airport Authority.

During Bernard’s tenure, key accomplishments have included the completion of a multi-million-dollar integrated Airport Operations Facility (pictured) to consolidate and promote sustainable airport maintenance, emergency response and operations; a rehabilitation of both airport runways and implementation of an innovative de-icing fluid capture and disposal system; and the achievement of Level 3 Airports Council International Carbon Accreditation certificate, which made YQM one of only five Canadian airports to earn this industry designation for carbon reduction initiatives.

Prior to the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, YQM experienced a record year for
passenger traffic and cargo shipments in 2019, thanks to dedicated air service development efforts, strong airline partnerships, and convenient 24-7 cargo facilities. Under Bernard’s leadership, YQM has seen a year-over-year uptick in transport of both sun-seeking Atlantic Canadians to southern sun destinations, and prized lobsters and other high-value goods to international markets.

“During his time with us, Bernard has exemplified Vantage’s commitment to delivering sustainable growth, safe and secure airport operations, and exceptional passenger experiences in his leadership of Greater Moncton Roméo LeBlanc International Airport,” said Stewart Steeves, Chief Operating Officer, Vantage Airport Group. “Vantage’s global network of airport professionals have benefited from Bernard’s insights and contributions, and we thank him for his service.”

A comprehensive executive search is being initiated to fill the position of President & CEO. The
airport’s community-based Board of Directors and the Vantage Airport Group, in its role as airport manager, are working together to support a seamless leadership transition amidst dedicated airport and industry-wide recovery efforts following the global pandemic.
